Greed & Envy – Hebzucht & Jaloezie

Greed can be seen as a very excessive or rapacious desire of wealth, status and power.
So, show us what you have in you!
Are you greedy?
Do you desire to acquire more than you need, especially with respect to material wealth?
Or are you just the type that envy´s others in your direct surroundings or your past for more general reasons and sees others rather deprived of it…?

Today we will find out if you can concur with Dante´s Ten Commandments, specifically;

“Neither shall you desire… anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

We invite you to come and enjoy an afternoon on the ‘Loosdrechtse Plassen’. The day will end with a delicious barbecue at the venue itself! The ticket includes all drinks (beer, wine, soda) and diner.

Gluttony & Sloth – Vraatzucht & Vadsigheid

Gulp down or swallow does not sound that charming.
However, the desire for good food has always been there even in the Christian religions.
It is a sign of status and something to be proud of.
Besides, even though the modern view of its result, sloth, goes further than before regarding laziness and running continuously at top speed, we ensure to combine to two perfectly.

Self-control to resist the temptation & obsession to over-indulge is the key!

• Praepropere – eating too soon.
• Laute – eating too expensively.
• Nimis – eating too much.

Pride & Lust – Hoogmoed & Wellust

The original and most serious of the 7 deadly sins, and the source of all six other sins, is Pride.
It is the desire to be more important or attractive than others.
Pride therefore is the deadliest sin of all.
Like the Pride of Lucifer, who’s desire was to compete with God, caused his fall from Heaven straight down to Hell where he transformed into Satan.

Be careful, because when Lust and Pride come together tonight…who knows what will happen.

THE evening to celebrate the Lustrum! We organize a great party at the Nyenrode estate.

Dress code: festive outfit that represents the theme ‘Sweet 65: What’s your Sin!”

Wrath – Woede – Latin: Ira

Impatient to find out what is going to happen the last day of the Lustrum?
That is a typical aspect of the last of the seven deadly sins.
Beware that you do not get self-destructive or violent!
No need for that.
Maybe now it is time to reflect what you have done yesterday evening accompanied by something tasty? We offer all of you party animals a tasty brunch on the Nyenrode estate in order to reconsider your committed sins of the past three days and smoothen your hangover feeling.

See…! I told you so…

“I always get my sin!”

The ceremony was about to begin. The Procession was invited to take their seats into the front row. And then a secret red light into the dark Theater signaled the Master of Ceremony that the Graduates were there! That they were ready! That they had come to collect their much-earned prize. All eyes were on them as they advanced to their seats under the sound of …. (song). To honor the Graduates and their dedication to the MSc in Management program throughout the year, keynote speakers complimented them and wished them all a successful start after Nyenrode! And before we knew it, it was already time to call upon the first specialization that was about to have their diplomas presented. As the Graduates rose and moved to the podium together, the teacher of the each made their way to the podium as well. The audience honored each single Graduate with special attention as their name was annunciated. The last student to call upon was the one graduating cum-laude. The Rector Magnificus presented the diploma to Ciska Harte and with as much pride he turned to the entire MSc19 year and he declared: “Hereby I confer upon the Graduating Year! Congratulations MSc19, you have officially graduated!”. Caps were thrown in the air, everyone rushed to reach their friends and family, tears of happiness were running down on many smiles.

But there was still one more tradition before the evening was complete. In front of the Castle, the Flag Ceremony was about to take place. Everyone gathered. The sound of the NOIB song put the finishing touch to the official Graduation of MSc19.

The Graduates had mixed emotions because they knew they were leaving behind the student experiences shared with all the great friends they had made. However, they knew that was not the last Goodbye and that the successful career path was waiting for them right outside the gates of Nyenrode Business University!

So long, Dear MSc19 Graduates!

Friday, December 2nd, was a historical moment on Nyenrode. For the first time the entire Dutch student golf world was striking down on the estate. From all over the country different SGV’s (student golf associations) were present and the meeting was reflecting on a successful golf year and presenting prosperous outlooks for the future of student golf in the Netherlands. The NG&CC was hosting the event and as the current committee is about to resign, it was the perfect moment for one of its members Adriaan Rijkens to present his next adventure in the golf world, Golfstrike. Golfstrike is the association in the Netherlands for the golfing young professional.

The NG&CC would like to thank everyone for attending the meeting and coming to Nyenrode Business Universiteit.

Iwan Göbel

Iwan Göbel heeft verteld over hoe hij samen met zijn broer Dimitri Göbel in een paar jaar tijd de Burton Car Company heeft laten groeien tot grootste sportwagenfabriek van Nederland, met een productie die 5x groter is dan de Spykerfabriek. Uit het verhaal van Iwan Göbel zal bleek hoe doorzettingsvermogen, lef, creativiteit en ondernemersgeest grondleggers zijn van niet alleen dit  succes maar ook de successen van vele andere producten dat Iwan op de markt brengt (o.a. het kruis urinoir en de elektrische tandenborstel vibrator).

Gwen Jansen
Gwen Jansen liet zien hoe zij met haar onuitputtelijke bron van energie de branchebreed erkende bron voor kennis, inspiratie & business in de autobranche Automotive Insiders heeft opgericht. Gwen Jansen haar passie is om van niets iets te maken en mensen daarmee te raken. Hard werken staat voorop, eerst moet er geïnvesteerd worden en dan komt de rest vanzelf wel terug. Uit het verhaal van Gwen Jansen bleek dat ondernemers een 200% drive om te slagen moeten hebben, moeten durven om anders te zijn en nooit moeten opgeven.

There were also MSc-students who won prizes during the weekend. Eric Wyers got into second place in the classification and Miss Van den Nieuwenhuyzen was part of the best ladies team. You can find some pictures on the Nyenrode Rally Facebook page.

During the weekend the companies were closed so we had no other choice but to enjoy the country. We travelled to Ilha Grande, which is as good as it sounds. We stayed at a nice hotel which was a welcomed change from the hostel we stayed in previously. While visiting Ilha Grande we also went to the surf beach Lopes Mendes which was a real treat.

In the final week of our visit we stayed in Sao Paulo. Most of us had been to New York before, but Sao Paulo is something else. It is a never ending sea of rooftops. After another week of mixing business with pleasure we took the bus back to Sao Paulo airport and got stuck in traffic. Some call it a JIT (Just in Time) strategy, which prevailed and we only had to wait an hour or so for the plane to depart. The KLM flight back was pleasant and it was nice to read a Dutch newspaper on the way back. For many of us KLM was a big influence for the trip, delayed flights or bad service could have really spoiled the mood.
