Golf is played all over the world. The Scottish have made it a way of life and you can find on average 5 golf courses in a 10 km radius. In the US, the biggest competition in the world is hosted with the best players and the biggest fans of the game that always want the ball to get in the hole.
But in the end, let’s not forget that the game of golf and the name originates from the Netherlands. As the word golf comes from the Dutch word kolf or kolve, meaning club.
Without elaborating too much in detail on the history of golf, the Nyenrode Golf & Country Club (NG&CC) bares also a great history with traditions and would like to get every student living on Nyenrode getting acquainted with the game of golf.
Offering a GVB course is the perfect opportunity for the ones that want to learn more about the game of golf. In the weekend of 6 till 8 May 2011 17 students were invited to join the golf pro’s on golfbaan Amsterdam. During these days the basics on the golf swing, putting, chipping and the rules of the game were explained.
The exam followed two weeks later, due to the new regulations of the Dutch golf association, and the NG&CC is proud that the majority passed and a new group is going to enjoy the beautiful game of golf for many years to come.
Many thanks go out to the enthusiastic crew of golfbaan Amsterdam, the GVB’ers and the perfect weather!
